 XYZ series

Traditionally, when we look at a painting it's a flat, 2D experience. But with the rise of virtual reality, it's becoming more possible to create colorful 3D experiences. This allows us to literally explore a painting from the inside out.

I implement VR into my work in my new series XYZ. VR is used to give an immersive 3D visual experience. The painting-collages are made in scale and proportions to fit into the VR world. After making real painting-collages on canvas with colors and paper, I scan the works in high resolution to get the best digital image for the 360 degrees view.
I need to create the painting in a way that it works in the 2D-version as a painting  and also in the 3D-version as a globe thats surrounds you from the bottom to the top. In the VR-version you stand in the center of that globe and the topline of the 2D-version becomes the center point of the top. The bottom line of the 2D-version becomes the center point of the bottom. On this page you will find some uploaded VR-versions further down. As a step further I made some selected screenshots in the VR-versions of my works and brought them back to paper from the 360 experience as photo prints as new works outside the VR.
